Merry Christmas???

Well, the plague is upon us here in the Acuff home. Daddy has not had a voice since last Tuesday (which made trying to talk to 5th graders about band and directing TWO concerts last week very interesting...), Bailey has been hacking along with Momma, and the fevers have started. So far, Daddy has been the only one to see a doctor (mainly because I was going for the sympathy vote) and the diagnosis is sinus infection. The upside (if there is one) is that we are all getting this early in the week. Hopefully we will all be on the mend before Christmas Eve and the fun that is Christmas morning.

For those of you who we will see this holiday season, we are taking precautions to de-bug our home and not spread the "Christmas sniffles" to family and friends. We hope that you and yours are having a safe (and healthy) holiday season, and we look forward to celebrating the season with each and everyone of you.

Take care and stay germ free!!!

Schooled by a Two-Year Old

Okay, so everyone knows that I have a fear of needles (and if you don't, believe me, it's big!). I know that I need the flu shot. I know this, and I have had the flu shot for the past few years (spending Christmas Eve in the emergency room with the flu will take away a lot of those fears...), but this year I was just not feeling it.

Then the mother-in-law stepped in...

I appreciate the fact that she is trying to keep me healthy (and she knows what that Christmas Eve was like. She met Tammie and me at the emergency room.). But as I said before...not feeling it this year.

So of course, Pam whips out the needle at dinner. And I freaked (give me a break okay...phobias anyone?). And by freak out, I mean that she couldn't even swap the alcohol wipe on me kind of freaking out (to be honest, it's not like I was running around the room, yelling and screaming or anything. I just really, REALLY didn't want that needle). And then Bailey stepped in...

This little girl stepped between me and the needle, held my hand and said, "Don't worry, Daddy. It'll be okay. I'll hold your hand."

Well now I HAVE to get the stupid shot.

Bailey sat in the chair next to me, held my hand and patted me on the knee, all the while telling me, "It'll be okay, Daddy. Just look at me. It won't hurt. Just look at me."

It hurt...

But I didn't let on. I just laughed (and how could you not...I was being schooled by a two-year old on getting a flu shot). She gave me a kiss and said, "Good job, Daddy."

Thanks, Bailey. Guess I'll be getting my shot again next year. But only if she holds my hand again...
