And the Results are...

NADA!

Well, not completely nada, but close enough to call it that. At our last doctor's visit a week ago yesterday, there were two conclusions made:

1. (and probably most important for me) the ultra-sound that afternoon confirmed that, yes, we are expecting a little girl (YEAH...I don't have to repaint the room!!!); and
2. we could probably expect to see said little girl within the week.

Doctor (sha-sha) Shashoua (see post "sha-sha-Shashoua" on 11\15 to get that joke) even made the comment when leaving, "Well, I'll see you next Thursday unless I see you in the delivery room before that." Oh the pack of lies this man tells...

First off, we didn't see him this Thursday (apparently surgery is more important than our appointment) and, low-and-behold, NO BABY! Please don't get me wrong, I'm not chewing at the bit, calling Tammie every 15 minutes to check and see if she is having contractions yet. But come on! I've got this room (nursery, not house mind you) set up, painted and ready to go. So just when do I get to use it?

I guess when LittleBabyAcuff decides to make an appearance. So everyone, including Tammie and me, will just have to be patient until that time. (But I will offer a little hint to everyone...Tammie loves it whenever you call her and before saying "hello" ask, "Are you in labor yet?" I do it all the time!!!)

The last bit of news concerning the upcoming arrival of LittleBabyAcuff is this...some in my family (Billy) love to stir the pot and get everyone worked up. So in his wisdom he has started a "When Will the Baby Be Born" pool. Anyone can get into the action with a $5 buy-in and a date from either 12am-12pm, or 12pm-12am (henceforth know as pm-am or am-pm. Yes, it was confusing to me a first, but I caught on fast...). Since this post is going out late, I'll even extend the offer for additional buy-ins for those of us (me and Bill) whose times have already lapsed for the discount rate of $2.50 (um, Bill...that's in addition to the $5 you've already put in...pay up!).

Once again, thank you to everyone for you thoughts and well wishes. It's harder to tell who is getting more impatient with no baby born yet: Tammie and me, our family, or my students who ask me EVERYDAY, "No baby yet?!" To which I kindly reply, "If the baby was born, do you really think I would be here?!"

Take care, everyone and email me with your "Baby to Be Born" pool picks. I'll make sure they are updated as I get them.

Brent 1/24 pm-am
Bill 1/25 pm-am
Billy 1/29 am-pm
Pam 1/30 am-pm
Tyf 1/31 pm-am
Tam 2/6 pm-am (it's funny how only Tammie thinks this will go all the way, huh?)

26 Days and Counting

We are down to the final stretch. Less than four weeks to go. The nursery only needs some touch ups on the paint (well, and the door hung back up. But really, does a newborn NEED a door?), we are taking our "Childbirth and Infant Care" class tomorrow, we have the camcorder in, new floors in the nursery, what else could we need?

Oh yeah...MORE TIME!!!

Everything that I've read about newborns is that they don't need much. Diapers, food, a place to sleep and clothes to keep them warm. Done!

But what about the parents? What do they (we) need when this new baby comes? I mean really, I don't know about many of you, but Tammie and I are complete and utter newbies to this. When do we feed her? How often does her diaper need changing? HOW DO YOU CHANGE A DIAPER?! (seriously, I've never changed a diaper before and I'm TERRIFIED about what I'm actually going to encounter during this...I'm a guy, give me a break.) What if she cries. Why is she crying? What do I do to get her to stop? What do I do to get MYSELF to stop?

People, help me here! I really have absolutely NO idea what I'm getting into or what to do about it...

this...is...scary...
